Rutgers vs Norfolk State Game

A group of East Orange Unified Band Students
went to the Rutgers vs Norfolk State football game to hear and
see the marching bands and audition for the Norfolk Band as a
college possibility for next year.
The Norfolk Band is known as the Spartan "Legion" Marching Band. Our
students met the band director, O'Neill Sanford who was very glad
to see them and promised to arrange for auditions for those
students who want to apply for Norfolk State University next
year. He also invited them to participate in another appearance
of the Norfolk State Band in the near future. Then the students
were thrilled to be invited to sit with the Spartan
"Legion" Band as guests of the Band for the remainder
of the game. They got to talk with the Spartan Band Members and
enjoy the music from "inside" the band.
The Spartan "Legion" Marching Band plays at the
Rutger's/Norfolk Football Game on 9/2/10. The students in lime
green T-shirts are members of the East Orange Unified Marching
Band. Standing in the center foreground is Spartan Band Director
O'Neill Sanford.
