It is just after 3:00 PM. Under
the leadership of Assistant Conductor Darian Bravo, the band tunes up with a few scale exercises before
rehearsal begins.

Dinner, provided by the Band Parents
Association, is a quick "Eat-On-The-Run" sandwich and a
drink. There's no time for anything fancier.

After dinner, there is time for a quick
run-through of the entire half-time show at Rowley Park.

Then a quick march back to Cicely Tyson School
to put on uniforms and make sure everything fits.

Ms
Saez, Band Parent Association President, leads the way with
her two little acrobatic cheerleaders performing cartwheels as
the Band marches from Cicely Tyson School through the streets of
East Orange to Paul Robeson Stadium. Special thanks to the East
Orange Police Department for providing the Band with several
police escorts and vehicles.

At the stadium, the Band pauses for a moment
before making their grand entrance onto the field and into the
stands.
The Three Mace Leaders stand at attention for
the Star Spangled Banner. L-R: Allan Theodore
(Flute Section Leader), Lloyd Tomlinson
(Mellophone Section Leader), Bria Douglas (Drum
Major and Clarinet Section Leader).

The band is called upon to play to help cheer on
the East Orange Jaguars every time they score or even come close.

At half-time comes the moment the band has been
working for, some of them all summer long in Band
Camps. They march onto the field and begin their half-time
show. See the video below for what happened next.
Assistant Conductor Darian Bravo leads
the Band in a tribute to Larry Schumacher former East Orange football
coach and director of recreation who recently passed away.
While East Orange
was performing their half-time show, they invited the Vernon High
School Band to cross the field and sit in their vacant seats so
they would be able to enjoy the show from the front, instead of
having to watch from behind the Band. East Orange Band members
enjoyed the performance the Vernon Band put on before the game
began and we hope they have a Web-site and You-Tube videos we can
link to so you can enjoy it, too.

As the East Orange Band leaves the field, they
realize that they have a lot of work to do before the next game,
but they also have a lot of good memories about the first
football game half-time show of 2010.
Final Score: East Orange
Campus High 32 - Vernon High School 8
